Poetry Book

A Collection of Poems

In this poem book, the reader will get to explore six different themes. The first theme imagines African America/Black America as the wife of White America with the conflicting emotions of anger, sadness, and the feeling of not being enough. The following theme is about a reflective narrative of Black America and the cycles of violence the culture endures.  The third theme is about positive emotions with a hint of melancholy to go with it. The fourth theme about a vixen's travel through a forest. While the fifth theme is about the lives of different birds. The final theme is about different women.

When writing poetry, I've always lost myself to the emotion of the poem. I find myself getting carried away and praying that the reader becomes captured like I was. The first draft of whatever poem I'm writing is nearly always rough with embarrassing mistakes. These mistakes cause me to ponder halting all writing between the eventide and the witching hour. This option is constantly discarded as I'm a proud night owl and will remain writing as the moon rules the sky. With patience, practice, and time the poem becomes perfect for the reader to experience.

It is that break in time between the finished poem and reader that doubt beats on my mind's door to break my confidence. Festering in doubt is what pauses the creation of new poetry. Whether what I've written does or doesn't reach some people it won't mean I haven't reached someone. That reader is the person who will be exploring the emotions and sensations I orchestrated. It is that knowledge that keeps doubt from living within my mind.
